GOLF

Few activities stress the back as much as golf. Even if you have sound technique, your back must be supple and strong to withstand the repetitive force of the golf swing. Back Rx Series A or B can be a great warm-up for a round of golf. You may also like to add these specific pre-golf stretches, which are demonstrated by Sara Bartlett, a physical therapist for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). Hold each stretch for five breaths, three times.

HAMSTRING/CALF STRETCH

Lean into a wall or other support with straight arms. Keeping your back and neck straight, press forward as if you were trying to walk the wall backward, with one leg bent and the other leg straight behind you. You should feel the stretch in the hamstring and calf of the straight leg. Hold the stretch for at least five deep breaths in and out.

Repeat with other leg straight.
